Our Company History |
SofTec has been serving the computer industry in New Brunswick since 1982, when it began in Fredericton as a software development company. Because of the need of fast, quality computer systems, SofTec began to manufacturer its own units in 1984 and continues to do so to this day. This allows SofTec to have total control over the quality of the components used in a system and in turn, a source of pride in the product which bears our label. |
Soon after the opening of the Fredericton office, an office was opened in Moncton on Weldon Street. Due to market conditions at the time, the Fredericton office was closed in the late 80's. In 1992, Brent MacDonald was called to join the ministry to serve as an evangelist, at which time he had sold the business to one of his employee's, Dave McPherson, who continues to lead the team into the future. |
The MDS and CROSSPOINT systems have evolved considerably over this time period. In an industry that has been constantly changing, SofTec has been changing as well. The current systems being offered are examples of years of painstaking research, trials and tests. Throughout the years, suppliers have made promises and failed to meet those promises and our own expectations. As well, many suppliers and companies have simply disappeared from the North American market. |
The lessons we have learned in this unstable and changing environment have helped us select our suppliers with great caution. We have learned that in this industry, as in many others, a cheaper price for components has a very high hidden cost. Which is why all CROSSPOINT system now use INTEL boxed and sealed motherboards, INTEL boxed and sealed processors, ATI video boards (unless video is on the motherboard), SEAGATE hard drives and very high quality IN-WIN or ANTEC cases. |
Other markets adopted here at SofTec in recent years include Local Area Network design and implementation, Wide Area Network design and implementation, IT consulting services, server configuration, secure gateways, video duplication services, video surveillance systems, video business cards, and video production systems. |
We are proud of the product and services we offer and would like to become your company's technology services supplier. |
